From November to March the NE monsoon blows side-onshore down the coast. It's lighter in the morning, then the afternoon thermal kicks in from around 11:00 and pushes it to 15–25 kn. December to February is peak season, and some days you'll be on a 9 m. From May to October the wind mostly switches off.
Water & level
Chop near the shore and real waves further out and towards the eastern end of the bay. The water is warm all year (around 26°C), so boardshorts and a rash vest are all you need. Plenty of schools teach here. Learners usually start in the mornings, when it's lighter.
Launch & rules
Launch from the beach in front of the kite centres along the main bay. Erosion has narrowed the beach in places, and at high tide some sections disappear behind sea walls and sandbags. Launch where the centres have their area and ask for an assisted launch.
Watch out
A crowded line-up in January and February, kites tangling on narrow launch strips, sea walls at high tide, and fishing boats and nets in the bay.
