Gulf of Finland, summer & ice
St Petersburg
St Petersburg is a real kite city with two seasons. From May to November you ride the shallow, brackish Gulf of Finland, and autumn storms bring the strongest days. In a cold winter the bay freezes and the same spots turn into snowkite fields on the ice. The gulf is so shallow that the wind direction decides everything. Pick the shore the wind is blowing onto, not the closest one.
