The main season runs from October to March, when the NNE wind blows 15–30 kn and sometimes more around the turn of the year. From June to August the summer monsoon brings lighter southerly days and storms. It can be rideable, but it isn't reliable.
Water & level
The lagoon is 500–1500 m wide and stays shallow for hundreds of metres, often knee- to waist-deep. It's ideal for learning, foiling and freestyle. Outside the reef there are punchy waves for experienced riders only.
Launch & facilities
A small kite village has grown up along the lagoon, with schools, rentals and guesthouses. It's about two hours from Cam Ranh airport, and a lot quieter than Mui Ne.
Watch out
Very shallow water at low tide means fins and knees meet the bottom. The outer reef break is not for beginners. In the dry summer months the lagoon can partly dry out.
