Egypt
Egypt is the easy answer to winter. The Red Sea coast runs on a steady northerly, the water stays warm all year, and the best-known lagoons are shallow and flat enough to learn in. El Gouna and Soma Bay sit on the Hurghada side, while Dahab, on the Gulf of Aqaba, catches a funnelled wind of its own.
When to go
Wind blows most of the year. March to November is the reliable stretch at all three places, and El Gouna and Soma Bay are strongest from spring through autumn. Winter still works, with fewer windy days, but stronger ones when it does blow. Summer usually brings fewer days above 30 kn than people expect.
Which place?
El Gouna has the most schools and a lagoon-style setup with a few distinct spots. Soma Bay is a big, shallow lagoon with a bit more wind than Hurghada, good for riding without a crowd on weekdays. Dahab is the one to pick if you want a smaller, laid-back town and cross-offshore winds with a safety boat.
Rules & logistics
In Egypt you generally launch through a school or kite centre, not from a random stretch of beach. Expect to sign up, use their launch area and respect marked teaching zones. Boots are rarely needed in the lagoons, but corals and reef edges exist, so ask where they are.

Conditions, rules and access change. Always check on the beach, ask local schools and ride within your level.
