The SE wind blows side-shore along this stretch from November to March, usually 18–30 kn by the afternoon. It's often a little smoother here than at Big Bay, which makes it a favourite for long reaches, speed runs and downwinders north along the coast.
Water & level
Beach-break waves and chop over a sandy bottom, plus cold Atlantic water (4/3 or 5/4). There's plenty of space to launch and ride, so it's a good choice when Big Bay is packed.
Launch & beach
There's a wide sandy beach with lots of launch space. Many riders do the classic downwinder from Sunset towards Big Bay, so arrange a pick-up or a buddy car.
Watch out
Shorebreak on bigger swell days, gusts in the first hours as the wind builds, and a long walk back if you drift downwind. Ride with someone. The beach is long and quiet midweek.

Live readings come straight from the station owners via the embedded widgets. Stations go offline sometimes; if a reading looks frozen, check the time stamp.
