Wind

Los Lances shines on Poniente (W/SW): side-onshore, steady, usually 15–25 kn, with a small wave to boost off. Levante also works, but here it blows side-off and gusty, so leave it to riders who are fully comfortable going upwind. In winter the wind is less frequent, but fronts can bring big W/SW days.

Water & level

Wide sandy beach, sandy bottom and lots of space. Poniente days are good for progression and you'll see plenty of lessons. Water is Atlantic-cool: a 4/3 for most of the year, a shorty in mid-summer.

Launch & rules

Kiting is allowed all year, but from 15 June to 15 September only inside the marked kite zones on Los Lances Norte. Los Lances Sur, the stretch next to town, is closed to kiters in summer. The beach is part of a natural park, so stay out of the dune vegetation and use the boardwalks.

Watch out

Side-off Levante, kites on the walkways, and the river mouth (Río Jara) changing the beach after rain. In summer, swimmers are everywhere outside the zones.
