This shore works on westerlies: W, NW and SW blow on- to side-onshore across a long open fetch. On a normal summer day expect 12–18 kn. Autumn storms from September to November bring the real 25 kn+ sessions. Easterlies and northerlies are offshore here, so don't even think about it.
Water & level
Shallow water close to the shore with a sandy bottom. As the wind picks up the gulf builds a short, steep chop, and around 1 m on stormy days. Duny and Kurort are shallow and forgiving, while Solnechnoye gets deeper faster and has more waves. Water is brackish and cold until June: wear a 5/4 in spring and autumn.
Ice season
In a cold winter the gulf freezes and the same beaches become snowkite and ice-kite fields, usually from January to March. Ice cover has been unreliable in recent winters. Never go out without checking thickness and local reports. Watch for cracks, open leads and pressure ridges, and stay away from the outflows.
Watch out
Summer weekend crowds at Kurort, swimmers in the bathing zones and onshore storms pushing you back to the beach. Check the Duny sensor below. It's the best live reading on this shore.
Live wind
Live readings come straight from the station owners via the embedded widgets. Stations go offline sometimes; if a reading looks frozen, check the time stamp.
