Dahab Lagoon
A small town on the Gulf of Aqaba with a marked kite lagoon. The mountains funnel the wind down the gulf, so it blows stronger than at most other Egyptian destinations.

Wind
The lagoon gets a north-easterly to northerly wind that is cross-offshore. It is windy on most days from March to November, and in winter it tends to blow for about three days, then drop for three. On a typical day the wind builds at daybreak, peaks around 11:00, holds until about 14:00 and is often gone by 16:00.
Water & level
Shallow and flat inside the lagoon, which is the reason beginners are taught here. Outside the reef edge there is a wave spot, Assalah, on an onshore wind that is for advanced riders only. Water temperature is 23–28°C in summer and 19–23°C in winter.
Launch & rules
Kiting in the main bay is prohibited. Launch from the marked kite lagoon in front of the resort and use the school's launch zone. There is also a rule that keeps kites out of the windsurf area between 9:00 and 15:00, so check the current zones on the spot.
Watch out
Cross-offshore wind means you want a rescue boat on the water and a school that actually runs one. At Assalah the reef has stones and coral, so wear boots and ride at medium to high tide.
